MASSiSS

Multi Agency Support Services in Secondary Schools

The MASSiSS government initiative provides school-based Social Workers to assist Young People within secondary schools. MASSiSS is aimed at the holistic personal development of these young people, particularly in the area of health, education, and welfare.

The MASSiSS service is:

  • aimed at promoting wellbeing and safety of young people;
  • family/whanau inclusive (if requested by the young person);
  • community orientated;
  • committed to building on the young person’s strengths;
  • culturally sensitive and responsive; and
  • early intervention and prevention focused.

We have Social Workers at Bishop Viard, Mana and Porirua Colleges. Bernie, Carla and Viv enjoy wokring with these students & provide a wide range of interventions to increase the students chances of success.

Holiday programmes, mentoring, cultural groups, weekend camps and group work occur every term and our social workers strive to assist their young people to achieve their goals and succeed.
