Child Helpline 0800WHATSUP

What’s Up is a free, national telephone counselling service for New Zealanders aged 5 to 18 years that has been available since 22nd September 2001. The service operates seven days a week from noon to midnight. Paid, trained and closely supervised professional counsellors answer the telephones.

Evolve: Wellington Youth Service

Evolve is a health and social support centre run by and for young people who find themselves outside the mainstream.

Child, Youth and Family is the government agency that has legal powers to intervene to protect and help children who are being abused or neglected or who have problem behaviour.

MSD is all about helping to build successful individuals, and in turn building strong, healthy families and communities.

They tackle some of the big issues in society, like family violence and youth offending. They are working towards this through providing:

  • care and protection of vulnerable children and young people
  • employment, income support and superannuation services
  • funding to community service providers
  • social policy and advice to government
  • student allowances and loans.
