Group Work

group work

As well as working with individuals we have also developed a number of programmes which focus on the power of group work and the strength of young people.

Among these programmes is COMPASS – which looks at the Community, Personal, Aotearoa/NZ and Spiritual side of life.

We also run a Youth to Men programme which is similar to COMPASS but is for guys only. It examines what is expected of men in New Zealand and how to be the best person possible.

We have support groups for people who need guidance and understanding from others in similar situations as themselves.

Boys After School Group

Challenge2000 has identified the need for a development programme for young men aged 13-15yrs.  The programme provides a forum for young men to explore their emotions and issues such as identity, culture and relationships.  Mentors provide tools and support to enable the participants to make positive decisions and grow into responsible young men. If you are interested in participating in this group please call Steve 04-477 0045.

Youth Development Programmes in Schools

Challenge2000 developed a Youth Development Programme for 9 male year 10 students at Tawa College . These pupils had been identified by their deans as not achieving their potential. They often manifested behavioural problems which further complicated their development.

An integral part of these programmes is a day of adventure based learning, which seeks to build confidence and trust in the participants. This and similar programmes are a lot of fun and have been successful in achieving the set goals to reach real outcomes.  Challenge 2000 is happy to work with students in schools, to develope programmes tailored to the specific needs of the school, the staff, the students and whanau and proffessionals involved.
