The facts
Unemployment is a significant challenge for young people. It is difficult for many young people to gain jobs.
Young people cannot live off a benefit and most do not want to! They want to work, earn money and contribute to society AND and they have lots of talents and gifts, skils and knowledge that make them valuable employees - if they get the chance.
So Challenge 2000 is working hard to try and get young people work ready and into jobs. This new programme is designed to work in partnership with WINZ and graduates of the NZDF’s Limited Service Volunteers (LSV) Programme. Our Service is targetted at young people aged 18 – 24 who complete the LSV programme successfully and are work ready.
We have many young people who are ready and willing to work and who have a wide variety of skills and qualifications to offer employers.
Our message to employers……………….
Challenge 2000 provides a personalised placement service to ensure you get the right person for your role. The steps we take in providing our service include;
- Individual preparation and the development of each young person.
- Undertaking profiling to ensure young people are prepared for suitable roles.
- Matching candidates with roles in industries in which they have shown interest and aptitude.
- Working with candidates to develop a variety of skills and ensuring that they understand what is expected of them in the workplace.
- If required, we can provide ongoing support to the employee at your place.
Employment opportunities are wanted for these young people that want to work and are ready to take on a challenge. If you own a business or know of any situations vacant, we could have a ideal employee available.
Our message to community supporters………………
We also need additional resources,tutors,retired business people to coach and teach our young unemployed people.
